Call Of Duty: Ghosts – 1080p on PS4, 720p on Xbox One?

4370COD_Ghosts_Chasm_AmbushRumours abound that the raw power gulf between Xbox One and PS4 could already be coming to the fore, with several sources suggesting that cross-platform titles could be running at noticeably lower resolutions on Xbox One than on PS4.

Several ‘insiders’, posting on popular gaming forum NeoGAF, have suggested that the Xbox One version of Call Of Duty: Ghosts can only run at 720p native and still retain its trademark 60fps framerate, while recent direct feed PS4 footage looks to confirm that the PlayStation version will run at a native 1080p60. One poster even suggested that other key Xbox One title Titanfall would also be capped at 720p – if true, this won’t prove especially surprising, with exclusives like Ryse and Killer Instinct already confirmed to run at sub-1080p resolutions.

Meanwhile, pixel-counting tech fiends have pulled apart Sony’s first party line-up, confirming that Killzone, Knack, DriveClub and Resogun all run at native 1080p.

We’ve known for some time that PS4 would be the more powerful of the two new next-gen consoles, but it’s still surprising to hear that the difference might be so obvious from day one. Obviously, this is still all just rumours until confirmed one way or the other, but it’s an interesting story to follow all the same…
