Vita sales jump 68% after PS4 launch

PlayStation Vita sales have increased by a massive 68% following the launch of the PlayStation 4.

According to industry magazine MCV, Vita sales rose by 68% in the week following the PS4 release, and 65% the week after. It makes sense, as the PS4 and Vita link up in several ways, such as remote play, which allows the gamer to play PS4 games on their Vita, and second-screen functionality for certain games.

“PS Vita sales wise we are continuing to see strong week-on-week growth since our latest campaign kicked in,” said senior product manager Ben Law. “We’ve already seen amazing feedback from PS4 owners on the Remote Play feature, and the success of Tearaway highlights what [a] great proposition PS Vita is, either as a standalone device or as the perfect companion to PS4.”

It’s great news for Sony’s struggling handheld, a lovely console with some excellent games that hasn’t made a huge impact since launch. Is this the beginning of a turnaround?
