The Order: 1886 delayed to 2015

PS4’s first-party line-up has already been hit with its fair share of delays, and here’s another – Ready At Dawn’s new IP The Order: 1886 has been pushed back to early 2015.

The steampunk shooter was originally pencilled in for a Q4 release but seeing how packed October already is (Driveclub, Alien: Isolation, Dragon Age III, Batman: Arkham Knight, Evolve, Shadow Of Mordor, NBA 2K15…) and how the likes of Call Of Duty, Assassin’s Creed, Skylanders and FIFA will also be vying for your time and money around then, it’s hardly surprising that Sony should want to give the original game a little breathing room. Given how successful Gears Of War was for Microsoft, this is a game that will have to get its blend of cover shooting and alternate history awesomeness just right if it is to grow into a franchise, and this extra time in the lab should help it achieve that.

Oddly, in other news, Bethesda’s PS4 horror title The Evil Within has also been delayed, this time from an Autumn release date that it had all to itself to… the tail end of that big ol’ Oktobermess. We get that it’s closer to Hallowe’en and all, but surely it’s just being sent out to die against so much strong competition?

Anyway, here’s hoping Sony has some neat surprises up its sleeve for E3 in a few weeks to fill the gaps that keep springing up in its release schedule.
