E3 2014: Final Fantasy Type-0 coming to PS4

Square Enix has finally caved – after years of pleading from fans, the Japanese developer has confirmed that revered PSP RPG Final Fantasy Type-0 will be coming to the West. And the best news? It’ds getting the HD remaster treatment and coming to a PS4 near you.

The action-RPG absolutely pushed the PSP to the limits, so we’re looking forward to seeing how Square handles the transfer. The beautiful Kingdom Hearts HD reissues are a promising sign but frankly, it wouldn’t even matter if Square did absolutely nothing to the game’s visuals – we’re just excited that we’ll finally get to play it.

The real question now is when the game will arrive, as Square is already spinning quite a few plates – epic projects like Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III, ongoing work on Final Fantasy XIV and also smalled project like Agito for mobile devices and the newly announced Final Fantasy Explorers, a Monster Hunter-style co-op action RPG for 3DS. We’d be surprised to see it this year, basically.

Our hearts go out to the fan translation team, however. After painstakingly translating the entire game from Japanese to English so that fans might be able to enjoy a game we had all assumed was never coming out over here, the team finally released its full translation patch just two days ago. Ouch. Still, the wait for the official localisation is likely to be pretty long, so perhaps their hard work wasn’t in vain after all…
