Alien: Isolation announced, first details

Sega and Creative Assembly have announced Alien: Isolation, a first-person horror game coming to PS4 and PS3 in late 2014. We’ve already had some basic details, thanks to a leak earlier today. It read:

Discover the true meaning of fear in Alien: Isolation, a survival horror set in an atmosphere of constant dread and mortal danger. Fifteen years after the events of Alien, Ellen Ripley’s daughter, Amanda enters a desperate battle for survival, on a mission to unravel the truth behind her mother’s disappearance.

As Amanda, you will navigate through an increasingly volatile world as you find yourself confronted on all sides by a panicked, desperate population and an unpredictable, ruthless Alien. Underpowered and underprepared, you must scavenge resources, improvise solutions and use your wits, not just to succeed in your mission, but to simply stay alive.

Sounds interesting, but it’s hard to be hopeful after the state of Alien games these past few years. Still, this is the first time in a long time that a game seems to have tried to capture the essence of the original film. We’d really, really love it turns out to be great.

We’ve got an announcement trailer as well as an origins vidoc, plus five new screenshots, included below.
