WWE ’12 Isn’t A Smackdown vs Raw Game: We’re Taking Credit

Turns out we have more impact on the world of gaming than we thought. We awarded WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2011 a not-that-bad, but not-very-good-really 63% in issue 199 of Play, now, suddenly, THQ announces the next in the series – WWE ’12 – will be a much more comprehensive update for the flagging series.

Yes, that was definitely all down to us, ohhh yes siree. Seems we have the WWE’s ear, or something. We should try and get Vinnie Mac to guest-edit Play one month. Lots of “DAMMIT” and “YOU’RE FIRED” thrown around. Great days those would be.

Anyway, I’m just waffling on because I’m glad this is happening. The SvR series has seriously needed some kind of more major overhaul for a long time now – years. I was very much of the thinking that laurels would be rested on, as sales are still quite good. Turns out my cynicism was unfounded, as things are getting mixed up this year.

Sure, I can’t say for certain how much is actually different, as I haven’t played it yet. But right now I’ll go on what I’m being told, and what I’m being told is that Play definitely made the WWE change tack in this matter*.

*This is a lie, as far as I’m aware. Stop taking everything I write at face value.
