Sound Shapes On Vita And PS3: I Still Believe

Sound Shapes, previously referred to with the word ‘Project’ in front of it, is coming to PSN on 7 August. Or 8 August, maybe, if we get the update on the Wednesday as seems to be the case. I don’t know, I never got the official fax from Sony.

Anyway, it’s been a long time coming and there’s been a lot of enthusiasm from this brain for the game. And it still stands: Sound Shapes is one of the most interesting and exciting games coming out in the next few months. Maybe in the next year, because who cares about ManShooter 72?

But it’s coming to PS3 too, and I can’t help but feel that might harm the game in some strange way. It was meant to be a PS Vita release, only coming to the handheld.

Obviously it’s great that more people can play this music-platformer-creative-thing, that’s not in question. But I saw Sound Shapes as one of those things that would be unique to Vita – something for handheld only that could be used in the grand argument of ‘reasons to buy the damn thing’. Put it on PS3, it takes some of that away.

Plus PS3 doesn’t have a touchscreen, but hey.

Still, it’s nearly here, finally, and I’m still excited. And you should be too. Unless you’re not, which is also fine. Here’s a video:
