NGP, PSP2 – whatever it’s called, we just want to know how much

Sony has said they’ve learned lessons from previous pricing fiascos, and won’t be repeating the MEGA-COST of either PS3 or PSPgo with the release of PSP2… NGP… whatever. That sounds spiffy.

But what’s a good price for the machine? Seeing as we have no idea how much it’s going to cost, we just have to guess. How much would the everyday gamer be willing to fork out for this behemoth of the handheld world? £400? £500? £12.50 and a bag of chips? Less? More? Less is more? I have no idea.

But wouldn’t it be nice if all of this wasn’t just bluster – if Sony has in fact learned their lesson and is, in fact, releasing the PSP2… NGP… whatever… at a reasonable price. The 3DS has set out its stall at around the £230 mark, but is currently being sold for £200 most places online. If Sony were to undercut this it would surely make people think twice about blindly buying into the 3D fad*, but surely that’s just not possible? Is even matching the price of Nintendo possible? There is, after all, all the technology crammed into PSP2… NGP… whatever.

It’ll be interesting to see, and we’ll obviously be awaiting any announcement with bated breath. Having said that, I was already going to get one day one, as I’m just like that. Same as the 3DS. And any other new gaming machines that ever come out. Sigh.

*I mean “new handheld revolution”, or something.

Anything under £250, and it’s a day one.

I’d like one on day one, but having only bought 6 PSP games I might hold off until there’s a good back catalogue.
