Forget Battlefield 4, Where’s Bad Company 3?

Although it has become little more than a footnote in BF history, the original Bad Company is still one of the most enjoyable shooters of this generation. The multiplayer has since been superseded by BF3, of course, but BC has that rare gift of having a campaign mode that doesn’t make you want to tear your own face off. Funny, interesting, and very Battlefield-y, it’s miles ahead of a lot of shooters out there, including both of its PS3 stablemates.

Although it probably won’t happen, we’d love to see DICE combine the best of both worlds. Instead of messing about with po-faced, Black Ops-clone narratives, DICE would be better served carrying on the intentionally corny, boys-own, buddy movie escapades of the original Bad Company, while also giving us that multiplayer mode in the same package. There’s no reason to persist with nonsense like BF3’s single-player mode: it was terrible.

Bad Company 3 however, with the multiplayer of BF 3 and the campaign of BC (not the new-found seriousness of BC2) would be an absolute winner. Will it happen? No. Will we cry ourselves to sleep about it? No. Would the world be a slightly better place if it did happen? Yes. DICE: you know what to do.
