Elder Scrolls: Skyrim details emerge. Excitableness rises

The first details of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim have begun to surface off the back of a Game Informer piece. Is it time to get excited yet? Probably. I mean, I was excited the minute I’d finished with Oblivion, but then I’m just a massive fanboy so my opinion is irrelevant. But the new features and tweaks – are they interesting? Do they fill my cold, black heart with hope? Or do they look to be nonsensical, reactionary decisions based on the feedback of morons? I have no idea, my judgement is too clouded to notice.

Check out this handy list of new features, handily categorised by TheSixthAxis. Normally I’d just write out the features myself, but it’s easier to link to those folks, let’s be honest. Anything run out and smack you in the face (in a good or bad way)?

It looks to be, in general, that the whole process of creating a character and ‘living’ through the game is to be simplified in some respects and more organic in others. The removal of class selection, while the traditionalist part of my brain starts crying, does seem to be a decent idea – for me, at least, as I never actually bothered with pre-created classes on Oblivion or Morrowind. Mysticism gone? Good riddance. All skills contribute to levelling up? The right choice.

I’m loath to get over-excited, as things like Radiant AI in Oblivion still give me sleepless nights*, but it does all sound very promising indeed. This post will tell you very little, you’re better off following the above link, but let it be known right now: I am excited about Skyrim.

*They don’t.
