PlayStation All-Stars: “There are a few glaring omissions”

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale’s 20-strong roster is pretty solid, but it isn’t without its absentees… even on developer Superbot’s own admission.

“In a perfect world, we’d love to have infinite time and resources to include every memorable Sony character in the game, and a few off-the-wall guest stars that absolutely nobody would expect,” explains lead designer Paul Edwards. “Obviously there are a few glaring omissions from our 20-character roster, but unfortunately the approval process for character selection is extremely strict and delicate, especially with regard to PSX-era properties that aren’t currently owned by Sony.”

That would explain the lack of a certain bandicoot and a dragon who now hangs around with a bunch of toys, then. Oh, and that spiky-haired dude with the big-ass sword and dead girlfriend. Still, Edwards seems generally happy with the cast as it is.

“When all is said and done, we believe our roster consists of the best possible choices available to us, with a strong balance of fan-favorite franchises and diverse play styles,” he summarises. And with new DLC on the way and more in the pipeline, the roster is only going to get stronger. Well, if you take being able to play as Some Dude From Starhawk as a game ‘getting stronger’, anyway.

That’s it. We’re done here. You can go back to throwing cakes at each other now, you little scamps.
