Yakuza 3 Confirmed For West

After much nay-saying and rumour Sega has finally confirmed that its epic underworld adventure, Yakuza 3, will be coming to Europe and North America. The Japanese game is currently being localised with an expected release date of March 2010, which is very close. In the past Sega had gone so far as to den that Yakuza 3 would ever come out in the west, but thankfully that was all lies.

“Yakuza 3 was one of the most requested titles for localisation by our European SEGA community, so we are delighted to be able to fulfil their wishes with this announcement,” Sony Europe’s marketing director Gary Knight told the PlayStation Blog. “As well as delving even further into the rich narrative of the Yakuza universe, the development team have pushed the PlayStation 3 hardware to the limits to produce a beautiful and startlingly realistic depiction of the Japanese underworld.”

Thankfully the localisation only involves the addition of English subtitles as Sega has no intention of re-recording the Japanese dialogue. That’s a smart move in our books and adds yet another reason to get excited about early 2010. Bring on the New Year. Having said that, we’ve already reviewed Yakuza 3 on import and you can read our feelings about it on NowGamer right now.
