Xperia Play: want one? (I’m not offering one, I’m just asking the question)

So now the PlayStation phone is officially real – it’s called the Xperia Play and all that – it’s time to gauge public reaction. It seems like a decent little piece of kit, but is it something people want? Could it be a new source of income for Sony and their library of classic titles, or could it just be another N-Gage?

I have no idea.

I can safely say that, beyond the scope that my job requires – what with us being all about that PlayStation shizzle – I am unlikely to be getting on board with the Play. Even if it does have a great name that reminds me of the best magazine in the world.

I am, however, far more likely to get involved with the PlayStation Suite thing that’s coming along. Both because it’s more interesting, and because I already have the hardware required for it.

So what do you think? The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play – is it for you? Will you be getting one? Will it succeed? Because I have no bloody idea.

I really wanted one when it was just rumour, but now that the details have come out i’ve gone off it somewhat. From what i’ve heard it only supports PS1 and Minis. If so it only has limited appeal since PSP can play those and more, and even more when NGP comes out (I’m likely to get NGP).
