The people have spoken: Resident Evil 5 Alternative Edition will be DLC

Resi 5

The people have spoken, and the people have chosen to receive Resident Evil 5: Alternative/Champion/Director’s Edition as downloadable content, rather than a boxed, physical product.

As we reported on back in October, Capcom were putting the decision to the vote and the results were surprising. Not because 1500 people voted in favour of DLC, but because a whopping 900 still want a boxed copy. We thought it would be DLC all the way, so it’s a little bit surprising that so many didn’t want to go down that route.

Once again it was the fabled ‘Kramez’, who posted the news thusly:

“Based on your feedback, in North American, European and Australia territories, Capcom will be making the new RE5 content for both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 available as downloadable content. You will not be asked to purchase a new copy of the game just to get at the new stuff, just make sure to hold on to your RE5 disc and you’ll be ready to roll in Spring 2010 when we make available new Resident Evil adventures (and some other things we haven’t told you about yet) for you.”

The DLC package will be released Spring 2010, with a price yet to be confirmed. Read the rest of the post here.

So there you have it. And not a single mention of Modern Warfare 2…

Damn.
