Resistance 2 viral marketing – what does it all mean?

In the vein of Cloverfield, which had a website that elicited a sonorous monster roar when you left it on for ten minutes, Sony seems to be drip-feeding online weirdness with Resistance 2. I’ve never put much stock in Insomniac’s storytelling capabilities, but this seems a little bit intriguing. There are now five videos on the Project Abraham website, all featuring Katee Sackhoff from Battlestar Galactica, as well as a bunch of guys who specialise at overacting. What do you think? Silly alien FPS, trying to be something more than it is? Or genuinely interesting? Either way, here’s hoping Sony tries it with other games in the future – Heavy Rain, in particular, would work well with this approach.
