GodofWarIII720p

Greetings blog readers! I’m hyper busy right now, so I don’t have much time to think up a topic to write about, so I’m going to just fire up the front page of www.n4g.com (that’s News 4 Gamers to the uninitiated) and write what I think about the hottest story right now, whatever it may be.

Okay, here goes…

It’s loading…

I think it is anyway…

The fan on my computer’s going nuts, I think I might have to re… no wait, it’s loading and the top story is…

God of War III to run on 720p natively with variable frame rate

What? This might not have been such a great idea. I haven’t read the whole story yet but it seems to be there in the headline in a nutshell. Hmmm… Now, I’m personally more about the raw experience of playing games rather than the technicalities, so forgive me if this is some terrible faux pas, but doesn’t this headline essentially mean “God Of War III is a normal PS3 game, much like most other PS3 games”?

It’s not, of course, or at least it better not be, but it’s extraordinariness will ultimately have very little to do with its display specifications and more to do with its gameplay, its design and the quality of its production. I really have no idea yet why this story is such a big deal, so I suppose I’d better read it. If I really have to, I’ll read the comments section too.

Be right back…

Right, the story is just a longer version of the headline. Time for the comments. I’m telling you now, there’s no way I’m reading all 315 of them.

Oh God this is depressing…

At first it’s fairly peaceful, then a flame war erupts over whether or not Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is 1080p or not. HERE’S THE FACTS: Technically it does fall under the category 1080p but its resolution is lower than that normally assumed when the term is used. But it just wouldn’t do if everyone understood and agreed on that, would it?

Then it becomes an argument about whether or not the 1080 refers to the number of horizontal lines displayed. It does. But some commenters struggle to get their heads around the idea that the number of horizontal lines determines the vertical measurement of the display, get confused and start calling those stating the correct facts ‘morons’. Almost immediately, they themselves are on the receiving end of ‘morons’ slurs.

This started 15 hours ago and apparently ran for about 7 hours.

Give me strength…
