GT creator races for real

We’ve been putting a fair few hours into Gran Turismo since the time trial hit but apparently it’s nothing compared to the dedication shown by the game creator, Kazunori Yamauchi according to a report on Kotaku. The story claims that the GT man has finished a 25-hour endurance race at Thunder Hill Raceway, California.

As part of the ‘Spoon Sports’ team Yamauchi shared wheel-time with a journalist and two other Japanese race drivers.

Commenting on the achievement he said, “Not having a lot of experience in circuit driving, and not knowing what to expect in a 25-hour race, I was very relieved to find that I was able to reduce the 20-second gap between my laptimes and my teammates’ at the beginning of the practice to almost zero at the start of the final race”, he continued. “It was a great feeling to confirm first hand that “Gran Turismo” has a positive effect in not just learning specific tracks, but also in raising the level of driving technique in the drivers themselves.”

Maybe if he spent more time working on gt5 we would not have to wait 5 years for it to be released.
