Firmware 3.10 comes with Facebook integration and more

ps3 facebook

We never thought it would get to a point in our lives where we were excited by the prospect of incremental firmware updates. Not enough to write a news piece on them, and certainly not enough to hastily take a screengrab from a video to illustrate said story. Nevertheless, that’s what has become of us, and it’s all down to the fact that Facebook integration has been confirmed for the next firmware update on PS3.

The update not only allows you more access to Facey-B through the XMB, but also allows you to automatically update your profile when you receive trophies or when you make a PS Store purchase. While we can’t help but think this may go the way of Uncharted 2’s Twitter updates, it still has the potential to be interesting.

There’s no set release date yet, though the update is coming “soon”, according to the US PlayStation Blog. We’ll keep you posted with more riveting firmware news.

You can see the full list of features and a video showing the Facebook elements (it’s really boring) right here.
