DJ: Can I Really Be The Hero?

Freestyle Games reckons that DJ Hero, its new entrant into Activision’s Hero family, is so authentic that it can help beginners on their way to becoming fully fledged, real-life DJs.
Speaking exclusively to Play, creative director Jamie Jackson said,
“I’m not going to stand here and say yeah, it’ll teach you how to be a DJ, but it will break some barriers down. It’ll teach you the concept, and it’ll teach you the idea of playing two records together. When we’ve got beats going and you’re flicking across between them on the mixer and you’re matching two beats up – that works because these guys [Freestyle Games’ in-house DJs] can do it. So that teaches you what works. And it teaches you when best to put a scratch in – when I got my first turntable I just did that…”
He pauses to flail his arm about wildly like… well, like someone scratching vinyl enthusiastically but very badly,
“It was hideous – playing DJ Hero teaches you what’s right.”
Having played the game for ourselves, do we agree? Sorry… you’re going to have to wait a few weeks for our hands-on impressions.
