Challenge Rooms In God Of War III

Sony Santa Monica has been scratching its head over ways of adding some extra value to the release of God Of War III so that you won’t trade it in after completing it and the answer it thinks could be Challenge Rooms. Speaking with US magazine GamePro GOW III producer Stif Asmussen explained some of the team’s thinking and why challenge based scenarios outside of the main game makes more sense than multiplayer for Kratos.

While not officially confirming the idea he certainly seemed enamoured with it. “Maybe you’ll see the game ship with a certain amount of challenges on it, then later on, we might put a download pack out with new challenges,” Asmussen revealed. “[That would be] a good way to keep the series going.”

Asmussen also used multiplayer in Resident Evil 5 as a warning to developers trying to shoehorn it into largely single-player experiences. “I’m a huge Resident Evil fan, but I got two hours into Resident Evil 5, and I wasn’t playing multiplayer, either,” he said. “I stopped playing, which I’ve never done before. Previously, I’ve beaten them all. With God of War 3, there’s a story we want to tell and an experience we want to deliver, and multiplayer doesn’t fit into that.”

at least they’ve realised certain games don’t need multiplayer-unlike 2kmarin with bioshock 2.
