Bruce Willis ‘Likes’ Kane & Lynch Script

Eidos’s co-op third-person, bank-heisting, hit-making shooter Kane & Lynch is being made into a movie. It was being made into a movie even before Kane & Lynch: Dead Men hit store shelves as the premise alone attracted the attention of Lionsgate. Now it has been confirmed that Bruce Willis will be taking on the part of Adam ‘Kane’ Marcus and apparently he thinks the script is kind of good.

“The script has been incredibly well-received around town,” producer Adrian Askarieh told GameDaily. “After Bruce Willis read it, he called it one of the best action scripts he’s ever read, and Bruce is an expert in terms of action scripts because he’s read everything over the last 20 years.” And starred in a fair few too, of course.

John McClane himself joining the cast does add a little extra credibility to the project. Kane & Lynch is being written by Kyle Ward who is also working on a movie version of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and a sequel to the Hitman film of 2007. Apparently Ward’s version of Dead Men sticks broadly to the events of the game, but naturally deviates in some places. “It’s not going to have every sequence from the game,” Askarieh explained, “but it’s essentially the story of a mercenary teaming up with a schizophrenic psychopath to save his wife and daughter.”

So, can McClane… sorry Bruce Willis save the day and turn an slightly wonky videogame with a rather cool core story into and popcorn-munching hit? If Bruce can’t, surely no one can.
