Bring Back Destruction Derby!

If you’ve been playing videogames since the early days of PlayStation, you’ll probably have heard of Destruction Derby.

Developed by Driver developers Reflections Interactive and released – along with its excellent sequel – on the original PlayStation, Destruction Derby had it all: intense, nose-to-bumper stock car racing? Check. Location-based damage and realistic physics, enabaling you to target specific points on your opponents vehicles? Check. Massive – yes – destruction derbies featuring loads of cars all driving into the bottom of a pit at full speed, destined to meet in a single act of murderous rage? Yup.

BLOODY BARREL ROLLS? AWWWW, YEAH.

Anyway it was ace, if a little simplistic, and we want it back. We’ve had about forty-five thousand versions of Ridge Racer since its inception. We’re getting another Twisted Metal. Driver is back. Why not Destruction Derby? Granted, there have been a few new entries into the series since DD2, but they were developed by a different team. We also have FlatOut as the spiritual successor, but it’s not enough. Get the Motorstorm boys, Evolution Studios, on it and watch it fly.

Actually it would Sony Studio Liverpool who you’d want on it, since they were Psygnosis and therefore the original devs.

TOTAL DESTRUCTION! YOUR RADIOATOR’S BLOWN! YOU’VE WRECKED YOUR CAR! THERE’S FLAMES ALL OVER!
It’s been too long, an exact remake with even the same eery menu music and sound effects would be too good. I was a kid but i still remember it perfectly over decade later, not many games you can say that about is there.
