Aliens vs Predator might get re-classified for Australian release. Also: might not.

Our committed Australian readers who travel all this way to read our site are sure to have heard about Aliens vs Predator’s effective ban from the shelves of Oz. Fret not though, as it turns out Sega themselves have asked for the game to be re-reviewed in order to try and get the game a MA15+ rating – the highest currently available to games in the country.

The request for reclassification came after Rebellion released a statement on the issue, part of which said:

“Rebellion is disappointed that its upcoming title Aliens vs. Predator has been banned in Australia. However, as we understand the law in that country the authorities had no choice as we agree strongly that our game is not suitable for game players who are not adults.”

Of course, this could all link nicely into how the Australian government has put it to the people to have their say (go there and have your say now, Australians!) on the ratings system in the country, but that would involve far too much analysis for this time in the morning. Safe to say, the future of AvP in Australia is looking brighter. Mostly.
