Activision rakes in $152 million in second quarter PS3 revenue

prototype
Prototype has made a few million for Activision, but it’s a drop in the ocean really.

If anyone was still worried that Activision might go through with CEO Bobby Kotick’s threat to stop supporting the PS3, one look at Activision’s latest financial results should put all those fears to rest. Sales of PS3 games accounted for $152 million of revenue for Activision in the three months leading up to the end of June. This might only be 15% of a mammoth total quarterly revenue of over $1 billion and it’s perhaps true that a slightly smaller percentage of that revenue will be converted into profit when compared to other revenue streams (thanks to various development and production costs being higher with the PS3) but still, even a company as huge as Activision isn’t just going to shrug off $152 million no matter what the retail price of the console bringing it in.

If you want to see the report for yourself it’s here, but don’t expect to understand that much of it unless you’re an accountant or something.
