Where Did Guitar Hero’s Soul Go?

JohnnyGuitarHeroWORNeverSoft, developers of Guitar Hero since 2007, seem to think that the series has lost its soul somewhere along the road and is looking to claim it back with Guitar Hero: Warriors Of Rock. In attempting to be all things to all people it is believed the game lost its way a little so the new game is going to be much more focused and more like Guitar Hero 3. That’s good news, but where could that soul have gone?

1. It got stranded on a remote island after a horrific plane crash and mysteriously went unnoticed by authorities. Left alone to fend for itself Guitar Hero’s soul was forced to fight off a strange cloud of black smoke before finally going into some sort of limbo world where everything was just dandy.

2. Guitar Hero was walking down a deserted desert road somewhere in Nevada when he came across a very neatly suited man standing at the corner of a crossroads. There was no sign of a car anywhere to have gotten him to this point in the desert and yet there was no sign of sand on his clothes or fatigue in his posture. The man welcomed Guitar Hero, claimed he had been watching his progress with interest and offered him a deal. For his soul the suited man would make Guitar Hero the most successful music videogame in history. The rest of this tale is, alas, lost to us.

3. It got lost somewhere you would expect like down the back of the fridge or between the cushions of the sofa. You know, the usual jokes people make when something gets lost.

4. Harmonix took Guitar Hero’s soul with it when it joined up with MTV and started making Rock Band (handbags).

And how is it getting that soul back? Well, this set list is a good start:

* AFI – “Dancing Through Sunday”
* Avenged Sevenfold – “Bat Country”
* Black Sabbath – “Children Of The Grave”
* Buzzcocks – “What Do I Get?”

    Sorry kid, but GH lost it’s soul when some one else started making. Harmonix WAS the soul, and the soul is now in Rock Band, you can feel it.

    This new Guitar Hero is only the last nails in the coffin. GH has sucked since Harmonix hasn’t made it.
