Dark Souls 2: How to beat Dragonrider

Dark Souls is here to make you beg for mercy and then kill you anyway, but worry not, intrepid adventurers. We’ve braved the world of Drangleic and taken down each boss to help instruct you on how to survive.

The most important thing you can do in this fight actually takes place before hand. Scattered around Heide’s Tower of Flame are three levers that will increase the size of the area in which you fight the boss. Without these, the odds of getting knocked into a hole and falling to your death increases hugely, so make sure you find them all before starting the fight.

The best way to deal with the Dragonrider is to stick as close as you can to him and try to circle around to his back. Many of his attacks will knock you back, so staying close reduces your chances of falling into a pit. If the fight goes to the outskirts of the area, retreat to the center and wait for the Dragonrider to come to you – don’t risk falling!

The Dragonrider hits hard, but is fairly slow. His attacks are quite easy to learn, so once you know how many hits are coming, getting a couple of quick retaliatory blows in isn’t too difficult.

There isn’t much more to say. This is a simple fight where most of the danger comes from the environment (or lack of it!) rather than the boss itself. Pay attention to where you are and you’ll be fine.
