6 Weirdest Endings On PS3

You’ve been playing for hours. You’ve given up nights out to pound away at the game. You’ve finally reached the ending and… huh? Yes, we’ve seen plenty of disappointing endings in our time as we all expect to be rewarded for our efforts in saving the world/galaxy/universe but some endings are just plain weird. Here are six of them. If you can think of any more, just let us know in the comments section below!

6. Mass Effect 2 (Really, Really Bad Ending)

We’re fairly sure you’d have to deliberately aim for this ending to somehow be this incompetent at Mass Effect 2 that every single person dies but your reward for your sausage-fingered skills is this – Joker is the one having the final conversation with The Illusive Man, not Shepard, who is the last to die in the bad ending. Some Mass Effect fans have been demanding BioWare account for this ending for Mass Effect 3. We don’t work at BioWare but we’re fairly confident in saying it’s really, really, really, really unlikely that you’ll be able to play through Mass Effect 3 as a pilot with brittle bones.

5. Enslaved: Odyssey to the West

After an entire game following the relationship between Monkey and Trip, which begins as a forced partnership but blossoms into a mutual affection, they end up in the Pyramid. Where Andy Serkis is the Pyramid. And… just watch. It’s easier that way. Some loved the ending, some hated the ending but either way, it was definitely one helluva trippy ending.

4. Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days

Perhaps not the weirdest ending but definitely the shortest and the one with the most WTF factor. On the run from the police and the Chinese mob, Kane and Lynch fight their way through an airport to board a plane that takes them out of Shanghai. They get on the plane and… credits. Oh. Erm. Oh. Maybe there will be a bit after the credits!

Oh right. That’s the title screen. Erm. Hmmm. Okay.

3. Catherine

There are eight endings in total – and you really want to avoid watching this one if you’re planning on buying Catherine come February, as it has massive spoilers in that ruin the storyline’s mystery – but getting the True Ending for Catherine is definitely the weirdest of them all. Just keep watching once the credits have stopped.

2. F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin

We can’t think of too many games where you end up being sexually assaulted by the antagonist. Imagine if that’s what happened in Mass Effect 2?

1. Clive Barker’s Jericho

You fight a massive floating baby, then a demon swoops in and takes it from the cave, then the cave collapses, then you swim through some water, you emerge in the sea and everything turns white. The end! Wait. What?

Rumour has it that Jericho did have a ‘proper’ ending in place but Clive Barker changed his mind at the last second and opted for the ending seen in the finished game. As it was Clive Barker’s Jericho, and his contract stated Barker had the final say in what was included, the studio had no option but to rewrite the ending. It is just a rumour but at least it’s a plausible explanation for the weirdest ending on any PlayStation3 game…

I guess it doesn’t really count, but the ending cutscene for the adventure mode on Critter Crunch was one of the most mental things I’ve ever seen.
