Perhaps as a response to all the attention being paid to Microsoft this week (damn them and their dedicated games conference!) Sony has launched a mesmerising new God Of War III trailer for you to drool over. It's got plenty of gameplay, some set piece sneak peaks and lots of angry voice over from Kratos himself. Best bit is probably at the end though. "PS3, It only does Vengeance." Check out the trailer after the jump.

Bethesda has released the very first glimpse of Fallout: New Vegas, the brand new RPG to be published by the makers of Fallout 3 and developed by Obsidian, who's members include creators of Fallout 2, Knights Of The Old Republic 2 and Sega's upcoming Alpha Protocol. We first heard about Fallout: New Vegas last year at a Bethesda press event in London, but now you can see it for yourself here.

What's this? The first trailer for Platinum Games' new title from Shinji Mikami, creator of Resident Evil? Why yes, yes it is.

This here Lost Planet 2 trailer comes in two halves. It starts off in a desert setting, where a bunch of Fallout/Borderlands type raiders on hover-scooters attack a huge ship, before an even huger spider-beast shows up and then there are lots of explosions. The second half is a different environment. Somewhere dark and underground where there are yet more big mechanoids and monsters. Then the action does relent briefly for some men in silly looking helmets to have a chat. That’s pretty exciting in itself though....

Here comes a new challenger! A new challenger for the title of Worst Movie Based On A Beat-‘em-Up Franchise Ever. Street Fighter, as in the one starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, has been champion in this particular arena since 1994, and it’s about time the Tekken movie came along and knocked it off the top (or maybe it’s the bottom) just like the Tekken game did, also in 1994, when everyone went “It’s 3D so it must be better ...

At the VGAs over the weekend EA revealed its first look at a revamped, rebooted and re-imagined Medal Of Honor title that moves the series from the tragedy and heroism of the Second World War to the perhaps murkier, but no less heroic or tragic theatre of Afghanistan. The trailer gave glimpses of a great deal, but it left us with as many questions as answers and thankfully the game's executive producer Greg Goodrich is offered some insightful answers.

In the grand tradition of 'announcements we actually didn't see happening' this has to rank pretty high up. A reboot of the franchise launched back in 2003, set to compete with the likes of GTA IV - yep, it's a new True Crime title.

Green Day has become the latest band to be honoured with their very own music game, with MTV Games having snagged exclusive rights for the Rock Band franchise. In this trailer we get a look at the Rock Band versions of Green Day in their stylish, contemporary guise, but we hope the game follows the Beatles template and charts the bands rise from snotty underground oiks to stadium-hopping megastars without skipping over the slightly messy “fat Elvis” period in between. ...

Arkham Asylum 2? They're mad. While we're excited to hear that Rocksteady is going to make another Batman game, we're a little confused as to why it has to be called Arkham Asylum 2. A case for changing the name later on in development we think. Anyway, this debut trailer shows us that the Joker is alive, slightly unwell and clearly up to more mischief as his goons roam the streets and drive around in bumper cars.

It was no surprise when EA announced it was rebooting Medal Of Honor into a modern setting a few weeks back and it’s now no surprise to see that the debut trailer looks more than a little bit like a Modern Warfare trailer, sitting somewhere between the gritty drama of Call Of Duty 4 and the blockbuster action of Modern Warfare 2, only with a lead character who sports a huge beard. It might have a familiar feel to it, but that doesn’t stop it from looking pretty damn good ...

We got our first glimpse of Ubisoft's latest Prince Of Persia title The Forgotten Sands this weekend at the VGAs and the reception to it has been mixed. Forgotten Sands is clearly making a move back to the last run of games that began with Sands Of Time, pasting over this generation's Prince title. We doubt that is any true reflection of Ubisoft Montreal's efforts last year; rather it is an admittance that the old style games fit more comfortably with the upcoming Hollywood adaptation starring Jake Gyllenhaal.

The secret Star Wars game we all hoped would be something spectacularly amazing to completely change our lives (again) was revealed at VGAs to be... yes, The Force Unleashed 2. Watch the trailer below and see in action a fine example of the Rancor Scale, which is the process by which something massive is compared in size to a rancor, thus giving us some context on how huge said massive thing is.

We've had our eye on Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption for a while now and marked it up with the Play Sharpie as ONE TO WATCH. We first saw the game back in the summer and it was looking pretty special back then – wide open vistas, intense shoot outs and the kind of style that only Rockstar can give a game. We're even prepared to go out on a limb here and say that it's going to be the best Western videogame ever made. Okay, the competition isn't exactly that ...

EA has confirmed that a third Mercenaries title, Mercs Inc., is in production after a trailer for the game was leaked by ex-Pandemic staff yesterday. Mercs Inc. is more multiplayer focussed than other Mercs games and will be developed at EALA where a handful of lucky members of the Pandemic team have been relocated. No platforms have been confirmed for Mercs Inc, but PS3 is probably a safe bet....

I have now played the finished version of Modern Warfare 2 and written my review, but I can’t tell you anything about it just yet or Activision will declare war on me. I don’t have an army of my own but I think maybe Activision does, so it’s a war I could never win. A much safer option for me is to draw your attention to this launch trailer at NowGamer.com. If ...

Either the voiceover actor on this new trailer of Vigil Games’ epic chop-‘em-up has one of those nasty colds that’s been going ‘round lately, or he’s supposed to sound like a demon. We think it’s actually probably the latter, although he does sound uncannily like the way Play news editor Jon did on the phone last week when he called in sick. Watch the trailer for yourself and see what you think.
