It’s that time again when we put an end to that agonising wait between Play magazine releases because Play issue 195 is out today and we have a very (little) big exclusive.
…according to a very reliable source at a major UK retailer.
You might not believe me, and I sure as Hell can’t prove it, but at no point during the last five years or so did I think that the PlayStation 3 would ultimately sell fewer units worldwide than the Xbox 360. I still think it’ll sell more, and not just by a few million, and I think you’d have to be a Microsoft fanboy or employee to even attempt to disagree at this point.
On the back of the news that Valve has employed three former key staff members from Uncharted developer Naughty Dog, and inspired by games industry analyst Michael Pachter’s comments about it being a mistake for companies not to develop for the PS3, here’s the five games at the top of our ‘please make this for the PS3’ list…
Alright, so the name sums up what it’s all about and stuff, but it’s not very imaginative, is it? Fortunately, I have an extremely fertile imagination that just loves to make up names for things, so I’ve come up with my own shortlist of names. Sony’s gonna read this and think, “Damn! Why did we call it Move when we could have gone with any of these brilliant suggestions?” Never mind Sony. Maybe next time.

In honour of Sony’s potentially catastrophic failure to put a fully functioning clock inside early models of the PS3, I’ve decided to put together this Top 5 of the worst console faults of all time, just to put things in perspective. At the time of writing it’s unclear whether the PS3mageddon bug has been fixed by Sony or has simply righted itself. Either way, the panic is over and we can all laugh about it now.

Peter Moore, the head of EA Sports and former Xbox 360 tattoo flasher, has said that the PlayStation 3 motion controller, codenamed Arc, is a very different experience than Nintendo’s Wii. Despite both being wand based Moore seems to believe that the underlying technology requires a whole new approach. He confirmed that EA already has some sports titles in development for the platform.
For a while we though it would be the Sphere and then word came that it would be Gem, but now VG247 is reporting that the PlayStation 3 motion controller will be called Arc. This information comes from a confidential source according to the blog site, but is considered to be very solid. Sony has of course refused to comment on rumour and speculation.
It’s been one of the most talked about games (if we dare call it that) of recent times – people have dubbed it a true evolution in videogames while others have simply dismissed it as an interactive cut-scene. But what did we think? To find out read our extensive hands-on impressions.
EA has confirmed that a demo of Dante’s Inferno, featuring the entire first level, is to ascend to the PlayStation Store in December, which will give you plenty of time to decide whether or not you want to buy it when it comes out on 12 February
