The Commies have invaded the US, many have been killed and it’s up to you and your merry band of insurg… ‘freedom fighters’ to repel the invading Ruskies and save the world as America always does. And there we have 2003’s Freedom Fighters, from the same studio that brought us Hitman 2 and Kane and Lynch. Wait a minute – that can’t be right, surely? But of course it is – we just forgot to mention ...
I've just spent a long weekend playing Mass Effect 2. Yes - that means I was playing on my 360. I can only apologise. But when it comes to playing one of the best action-RPGs ever made, you have to make a stand and play a game on whatever you can, even if it is disloyal of me as a committed PlayStationite. And this is why I must add my voice to the pile of those that demand the Mass ...
EA has just published its third quarter fiscal year 2010 (that’s October to December 2009 to us normal people) results, and it’s a really long document, most of which is boring (i.e. we don’t understand it). But there are some juicy bits, so we’ve filtered them out for your delectation.
Overall, EA brought in less revenue compared to the same period of the previous year, partly due to outside factors and partly due to EA not publishing as many ...
Dead Space: Extraction, the on-rails Wii shooter that rated so highly but sold so poorly may be on its way to PSN, if a survey outed by Kotaku is accurate, correct and actually true. But wait! There also seems to be another Dead Space title, this one subtitled Planet Cracker, on the way.
Extraction, which holds a rating of 82% on Metacritic, would apparently come in at around the $15 mark - which would probably work out at £10-15 ...
A fair few pieces of concept art have been unearthed for a number of different EA properties that might still/probably won't see the light of day (delete as appropriate). Along with the wonderful Syndicate - apparently being developed up at Starbreeze - there are sketches for the likes of Road Rash, a game based on Oliver Twist and the probably-still-happening Gunhead.
There's no real news here, as all this is is a collection of concept art, but it looks nice and ...
Some clever PC-fiddling types in Poland have dug around inside the source code of the PC version of Mass Effect 2 and discovered the following lines of code…
EA has been forced to alter an ad submitted to US TV network CBS for use during the broadcast of this year’s NFL Superbowl. The ad doesn’t feature any of the strong sex and violence you’ll find in the game, but it does end on the slogan “Go to Hell” and that’ what CBS objected to. EA has simply changed it to “Hell awaits”, which CBS is fine with.
The ad has actually already been running on various networks ...
This shouldn't come as any great surprise, but EA Sports has announced that yet again it will be launching a special World Cup edition of FIFA with all the teams appearing at this year's tournament in South Africa. EA releases a new FIFA for pretty much every major international tournament with Euro 2008 being the last spin-off title. The big selling feature of this one is the full online World Cup competition.
The February issue of Game Informer (it's a magazine that isn't Play) is reporting that there won't be a new Half-Life game this year, even though we've had to wait about a million billion years for one.
It doesn't necessarily mean Episode 3, as it isn't named specifically, but that would be the logical guess. What it does mean, though, is that we can hope Ep.3 comes out this year and the one that isn't coming in the Queen's Space Year ...
In a conference call off the back of disappointing financial results, EA's John Riccitiello has revealed an exciting lineup of games due for release in the next financial year, ending March 2011. Those games include the previously announced, but undated Crysis 2 and Dead Space 2 as well as rumoured or expected games like FIFA World Cup 2010 and possibly even The Sims on next gen consoles.
EA's Medal Of Honor reboot will a single-player campaign from multiple perspectives it has been revealed. The campaigns have been characterised as offering a 'scalpel and sledgehammer' approach as the targeted Tier 1 Operatives tackle small, but important objectives and the larger military campaign hammers the point home.
At the VGAs over the weekend EA revealed its first look at a revamped, rebooted and re-imagined Medal Of Honor title that moves the series from the tragedy and heroism of the Second World War to the perhaps murkier, but no less heroic or tragic theatre of Afghanistan. The trailer gave glimpses of a great deal, but it left us with as many questions as answers and thankfully the game's executive producer Greg Goodrich is offered some insightful answers.
Green Day has become the latest band to be honoured with their very own music game, with MTV Games having snagged exclusive rights for the Rock Band franchise. In this trailer we get a look at the Rock Band versions of Green Day in their stylish, contemporary guise, but we hope the game follows the Beatles template and charts the bands rise from snotty underground oiks to stadium-hopping megastars without skipping over the slightly messy “fat Elvis” period in between.

It was no surprise when EA announced it was rebooting Medal Of Honor into a modern setting a few weeks back and it’s now no surprise to see that the debut trailer looks more than a little bit like a Modern Warfare trailer, sitting somewhere between the gritty drama of Call Of Duty 4 and the blockbuster action of Modern Warfare 2, only with a lead character who sports a huge beard. It might have a familiar feel to it, but that doesn’t stop it from looking pretty damn good ...
Electronic Arts’ CEO John Riccitiello has apparently let slip what Sony’s motion control ‘wand’ is going to be called. Speaking at the UBS 37th Annual Global Media Conference, Riccitiello said, “In the coming year, both Sony and Microsoft have announced new controllers. Motion sensor controls, Natal and Gem, these are likely to bring new consumers into the marketplace.”
Sony’s standing by its claim that no official name for the ‘wand’ has been announced, with a statement saying something along ...
It would seem that Tomb Raider is not the only franchise looking to branch out from its single-player roots and move into the lucrative world of online multiplayer as EA has been advertising a MP position for Dead Space. In case you weren't aware Dead Space 2 was announced yesterday continuing the journey of Isaac Clarke as he attempts to contain the Necromorph threat.
