EA Sports has fired a broadside at FIFA players who quit out of games online before the final whistle. If you've spent any time online playing FIFA then you'll know this is a serious problem among some players and the development team is looking into solutions. A penalty/reward system is being considered to punish those who quit games and reward those who play them through regardless of the result.
Peter Moore, the head of EA Sports and former Xbox 360 tattoo flasher, has said that the PlayStation 3 motion controller, codenamed Arc, is a very different experience than Nintendo's Wii. Despite both being wand based Moore seems to believe that the underlying technology requires a whole new approach. He confirmed that EA already has some sports titles in development for the platform.
EA Sports has announced that upcoming mixed martial arts title MMA will feature the North American promotion Strikeforce as one of its premier leagues in the game. Strikeforce started life as a kick-boxing promotion before moving into mixed martial arts in 2006. Since then it has seen rapid expansion across the US and featured some of the best MMA fighters in the world.
Writing on his official blog recently EA Sports head Peter Moore has been talking about the challenges faced by western developers when attempting to break into the Japanese market. Moore gives particular attention to FIFA, a game that does very well in all other football living nations, but for some reason has met resistance in Japan.
Fans of FIFA 10 have produced this video showcasing all of the advanced ball skills available to those players with precise analogue stick control. As an instructional video it’s not all that useful, given that the moves aren’t secret, but it’s great to see how closely the skills in the game match those of real players.
Qualification has now begun for the official FIFA Interactive World Cup, the biggest FIFA tournament in the world, and presumably one of the biggest games tournaments in the world, full stop. The event is an official collaboration between FIFA, EA and Sony.

UFC president Dana White has hit out, figuratively speaking, at EA over the announcement of its new mixed martial arts franchise, MMA, leaving EA lying semi-conscious in a bruised heap with its own blood spattered all over its broken, battered face, figuratively speaking.
White was particularly incensed by EA Sports president Peter Moore’s claim that he’d been wanting to launch an MMA brand since joining EA two years ago,

EA just released this 'actual gameplay footage' trailer, which uses the game's graphics engine but, thanks to lots of funky effects and cinematic camera angles, bears no real resemblance to any actual gameplay. We don't mind though, so long as the series continues in the same direction it's been going in for the last few years, FIFA 10 should be excellent with or without frills....
