FEATURED A-Z GAMES

Browse the list below to view the games we have selected to feature for each letter of the alphabet

Featured 'A' Game: After Burner: Black Falcon

For arcade gameplay that’s barely changed at all in the 20 years since the original, After Burner: Black Falcon still feels fresh and thrilling, and the graphical facelift it’s been given makes it exciting to watch too.

Featured 'B' Game: Breath of Fire III

Just like Tales Of Eternia, Breath Of Fire III is a worthy adventure that is much more than the sum of its parts. Pretty generic, as all RPGs never fail to be, but does it all expertly, providing a great adventure that will soak up some hours.

Featured 'C' Game: Crush

Crush is a puzzle game we actually like, and that’s rare. There is just something about the game’s presentation and flattening device that, although difficult to get your head around, keeps you playing.

Featured 'D' Game: Disgaea - Afternoon of Darkness

Sheer brilliance, and one of the best titles on the PSP. It even surpasses its PS2 cousin with a slew of extra modes and has the most longevity you’ll ever find within videogames. A fair few of you will hate it, but for the RPG fan it’s a must.

Featured 'E' Game: Everybody's Golf 2

Even if you really hate golf, dislike the PSP, despise cartoon characters and can’t stand videogames (well, maybe not videogames), you just won’t be able to bring yourself to hate Everybody’s Golf 2. It’s like a portable anti-depressant.

Featured 'F' Game: Final Fantasy Tactics

Tactics is as immense as it is intense. With a brilliant storyline and a wealth of options for creating and customising characters, there is no finer RPG on the PSP.

Featured 'G' Game: GTA Liberty City Stories

If you’re in need of a heady rush of entertainment, forget Cialis Softabs, this is guaranteed to give you a hard Don.

Featured 'H' Game: Hot Pizel

It relies too much on contrived style to mask its simplicity. But despite the heavy Wario Ware influence, there’s enough inventiveness in its minigames to make it worth a look.

Featured 'I' Game: Innocent Life

As nice as it is for PSP to get its own Harvest Moon title, this isn’t quite the game it was on other formats. Newbies and veterans alike are sure to derive both pleasure and disappoint in equal quantities.

Featured 'J' Game: Juiced 2

Where the console versions were amiable at best, Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights on the PSP is a surprisingly well-suited endeavour. Surprisingly unpretentious and an awful lot of fun too, the juice is definitely worth the squeeze.

Featured 'K' Game: Killzone Liberation

Killzone: Liberation is a good game. Its problems do mar an excellent experience, but only to an extent. There’s enough good for players to overlook those faults – and it deserves to be played regardless of your thoughts on the PS2 game.

Featured 'L' Game: Locoroco

Whether it has a serious message or not, there is no denying that LocoRoco is the landmark PSP title. The effortless charm and relentless happiness hide one of the most complete games we’ve ever had the hard the pleasure of playing.

Featured 'M' Game: Metal Gear Ac!d 2

This is one UMD filled with Metal Gear Strategy that any PSP owner should seriously consider because it makes 67.3% of all other PSP games seem like bloated ports. It’s fluid, vivid and with as much depth as you want. A delight.

Featured 'N' Game: Need for Speed Most Wanted

Compared to Rivals, this is certainly an improvement. But with so many strong arcade racers already out on PSP, NFS might struggle to find its way to the top of your most wanted list.

Featured 'O' Game: Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast

To drive a fl eet of Ferraris you either have to fl ash more green than a Welsh meadow or be the parking attendant at Stamford Bridge, but in Outrun 2006 you can live the dream – smooth, slick and sexy, setting a bench mark for PSP.

Featured 'P' Game: Powerstone Collection

Even containing two games Power Stone Collection is unable to compete against Dark Resurrection, the best fighter available – but they are so different, that together they are the perfect contrasting beat-’em-ups for PSP.

Ridge Racer may be just an evolution, but it’s one that’s been created with stunning care and attention to detail.

Featured 'S' Game: Sega Rally

No risks are taken and, for once, that’s actually a good thing. It’s the Sega Rally we all know and love, despite it being all-new. Buy it, because games are supposed to be fun and that’s exactly what Sega Rally is.

Featured 'T' Game: Tekken Dark Resurrection

As well as being by far the best beat-’emup on the PSP, Tekken: Dark Resurrection is one of the machine’s standout games: it looks great, controls well and is everything anyone could ever want from a handheld Tekken. Truly unmissable.

Featured 'U' Game: Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins

In the past, GnG games have divided opinion, but Ultimate should appeal to everyone. It’s pretty, it’s enjoyable and it has difficulty settings to suit all skill levels. One of the best updates of a classic franchise we’ve had the chance to play.

Featured 'V' Game: Virtua Tennis 3

Fluid and fun as expected. It’s ideal for onthe- move play sessions but is ultimately overshadowed by its predecessor. The new mini-games are a blast though, and we can’t overly punish what is still the best tennis experience out there.

Featured 'W' Game: Wipeout Pure

Sure there are niggles (namely a stuttering frame-rate on the higher classes and it can be quite tough) but they can hardly chink Pure’s solid armour. Welcome to the next generation, welcome to the PSP.

Featured '#123' Game: 300: March to Glory

300 is a poor effort that has just about enough about it to entertain for the briefest of moments. You’d have no idea it was attached to one of the most stylish epics ever made if it weren’t for the name.
