Despite shiny issues and unsightly screen-blur, there’s a good deal of shortterm fun to be had here, which makes this compilation perfect for short-term play.

Since the music scene seems to be stuck in a 1982-83 retrospective why not, eh? Why bloody not? This collection contains King & Balloon (space invaders with balloons that kidnap a king), Galaga (excellent space-shooting), Galaxian (not as great as Galaga), Pac-Man (Pac-Man), Rolling Thunder (Shinobi with guns – top), Motos (bash balls of an arena), Grobda (tough arena tank-combat), Dragon Buster (explore dungeons, kill things – yawn), Tower Of Druaga (explore mazes, find keys – dull), Mappy (use trampolines to navigate a mansion – fun), Xevious (OK vertically-scrolling shooter), Dig Dug and its sequel (dig holes, inflate creatures – nice), Bosconian ( ‘meh’ eight-way scrolling shooter) and two versions of Rally X (Pac- Man meets cars). You also get new revamped versions of Dig Dug, Galaga, Pac- Man and Rally X. Wi-fi support enables four-player action, the screen can be rotated so you can play in classic verticalmonitor mode but the main problem is that the PSP’s screen is too shiny, so getting a high score at Galaga can take squinting.
Despite shiny issues and unsightly screen-blur, there’s a good deal of shortterm fun to be had here, which makes this compilation perfect for short-term play, although ironically being old games, you need genuine skill to do well and so you actually need plenty of practice.
