Hopefully this is the last summary we’ll
ever have to write for a Champ Manager
game for a while. And by ‘while’ we mean
‘forever’, until the last godamn minute of
eternity. That’s ages. Sort it out
Eidos – you’re being plain lazy.

Bloody hell, it seems that we’re reviewing
one of these games every month at the
moment. This time it’s another version
of the game for PSP. We don’t understand it.
It’s not like Eidos is trying to improve the thing
either, as it’s essentially the same game as
before, tweaked slightly to run a bit smoother.
Maybe if we’re just really nice to this one, it’ll
just go away and leave us alone.
Championship Manager 2006 on PSP is
so good you’ll never play another game again
ever… nope, can’t do it. It’s not an integrity
thing either, just that we’re not imaginative
enough. Speaking of having no imagination…
Possibly the worst aspect of CM 2006
is the sheer robotic nature of it all. It’s so
preposterously awkward to navigate that you
end up just plodding through it, never feeling
like you’re ever really putting in the effort
required to embellish your own identity onto
the game. Also, as with all terrible football
management sims, this is really just a game
about your club’s bank account – player loyalty,
training effects, team chemistry and tactics all
take second place to just how many of the best
players you can buy in one transfer window.
This is superficial junk that doesn’t even try
hard in all the wrong areas. It’s ferociously
horrible to look at as well. Don’t bother.
