A careful and luscious conversion from
the PSP, Lemmings does little to warrant
derision. It’s as clever/impossible (delete
as applicable) as it ever was and just as
playable. As such it’s bound to find
a market amongst PS3 gamers.

Lemmings: a port for those
disillusioned with the everswirling
storm of gaming. Ever
enchanting, and always ready to
offer a challenge, Lemmings has sat in the
background for years, reappearing every
now and again to remind folk that the
puzzling genre, despite a lack of innovation
over the years, has an awful lot to offer.
Most of us started with the game many
years ago, and we’re happy to report
that bar a few unobtrusive additions, it’s
pretty much the same. Whilst you may be
switching off about now, thinking you’ve
had all the Lemmings can offer you, we can
assure you that it’s well worth a download,
as the 100 levels you’re buying are a
mixture of the best of the old and the new,
delivering a simultaneous hit of nostalgia
and bafflement to your underworked brain.
The two new additions, namely cloning
machines and teleporters serve nicely to
raise the puzzling element above what you
immediately expect of the franchise, and
they’ve been included well. Sometimes
there doesn’t seem too much point to
them, and on occasion the teleporters can
make life that much more complicated,
requiring you to flit about the screen
with irritating frequency, but these are
isolated instances. It looks lovely and it
challenges parts of the brain that few
other puzzlers can reach, making it an
almost essential purchase for anyone
who’s ever loved the little green rodents.
