Mad At E3? Again? Don’t Worry, There’s Always Next Year
Yeah, this year’s E3 didn’t blow our minds, but no matter. Next year is the big one.
Being disappointed at E3 is an annual tradition, like Christmas or the England football team embarrassing itself in one manner or another. Every year people want something, and when ‘it’ inevitably doesn’t turn up (or is different to what they wanted) it’s time for boo-hooing all round.
Except, maybe next year will be different. In fact, it has to be different, because there’s surely no way that Sony (not to mention Microsoft) won’t unveil some new hardware in some way shape or form. This year’s showings may have underwhelmed (even if Sony’s was far stronger than the other two, which where dismal), with their chat about sales figures and SmartGlass and NintendoLand or whatever nonsense was being spouted. There were highlights: Beyond and The Last Of Us being two, and Ubisoft bossing it on the 3rd-party front was good to see.
There was good stuff here, just no necessarily where you expected it. Next year, though? We’ll probably be staring down the barrel of a three-way new-generation hardware cock-measuring contest.
Which is always how E3 was meant to be.
