Minecraft On PS3: We Ain’t Getting It… Yet
Minecraft on PS3!… doesn’t exist. And right now it doesn’t look like it’s coming. And this makes us sad.
Minecraft has arrived on Xbox 360 and brought with it record opening-day sales. It’s also brought with it a welcome legion of thousands more people building hastily-constructed shacks they have the temerity to call ‘houses’, as well as sixty metre high phalluses.
Minecraft is brilliant.
So why haven’t we seen it on PS3 yet? Don’t search forums for the answer, you’ll only be met with threads like these. And nobody wants that.
The simple reason is exclusivity – Microsoft got its wallet out and paid the bucks to secure Minecraft, stopping it from coming to PS3. Notch said as much himself (he didn’t say anything about ‘the bucks’ or wallets or anything, that’s just flagrant editorialising).
So Minecraft is not coming to PS3, as far as we know.
But there’s still hope. There’s always hope. There’s been plenty of ‘exclusives’ that have soon made their way to other machines. Resident Evil 4 was a GameCube exclusive. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker was a PSP exclusive. XCOM was an Xbox 360 exclusive. Things change. Deals expire. Modern Warfare DLC becomes available on PS3 after the fact.
There’s still hope.
Hope that we can one day frantically dig a cave dwelling to escape the fear that comes with the setting sun. Hope that we can one day figure out how to build a shitty little sword that does very little of use. Hope that we can dig one block too deep and fall into a laval pit. Hope that one day we can get Minecraft on PS3.
We’ve been asking for it since at least 2010 in the mag. Hopefully it’s not permanent Xbox exclusivity.

I just wish xbox/microsoft/whoever would be nice enough to give playstation/sony partial rights as a courtisy to the gaming comunity, because everybody should be able to play a game as great as minecraft. minecraft should be avalible to everybody and i hope some day xbox/microsoft will realize that (pardon my poor spelling and grammar)

I myself own an Xbox and have mc. Microsoft need to own these games as a benefit of having to pay for xbox live. Live is like an exclusive club: you pay for extra services and deals, and that is one of the main reasons that Microsoft chooses to buy exclusivity of lots of games. But I do very much agree with mc on ps3, but with a joint xbox/ps3 network. I know this won’t happen of the companies’ rivalry, but if a joint ps3/x360 network did exist, gamers would be much happier as they could play with friends on other platforms.

Minecraft is the true definition of a strategy game with a little action thrown in, xbox are being greedy and trying to increase numbers but we will be patient (PS3) STAND STRONG BRETHREN

I wish that PS3 had Minecraft too. I hate Extreme Fans that put down another console though, no matter what console they have. But we can all agree that PC is better, for games like Minecraft and Skyrim. ( I have a PS3 with the latter )

I have an xbox and I understand what the playstation gamers are going through we xbox gamers feel the same way after god of war 3 infamous and uncharted.but to everything fair Sony should make ps3 gamers pay for psn. You guys do realize why we have all the dlcs early and all these exclusives right? It’s because we pay for online Microsoft is only thanking of gamers back for paying $59.99 every year by getting exclusives for us. Hmm maybe if Sony start charging for online you guys could get tons of exclusives. It should defiantly come to PS3. Why not? It’s made its journey from Android, To PC, to XBOX. But why not PS3? If minecraft were to make its way to PS3, notch would make considerably more money. It is not fair how XBOX can have minecraft but us PS3 users can’t. I love minecraft and I’m sure millions more people do. Therefor it SHOULD make it’s way to PS3. Or maybe even PS4. I’m very disappointed that it is not out on PS3 yet.

Personally I think MineCraft on PS3 would be better than xbox MineCraft because PS3′s have more memory and power so that means bigger worlds.
Right now we are checking if PS3 would be good for minecraft.So far we have learnt that PS3′s hardrive is bigger (therefore bigger world’s). We have decided to ask the comunnity if they want it.

why the hell would notch not put it on ps3. Now for one, the xbox lacks in a few areas compared to the ps3. The ps3 has great graphics and processer, it even has blue ray. Yes the ps3 controller isnt that good compared to the xbox one, but lets face it, microsoft only created the xbox so they can get a piece of the action.
Microsoft has been causing problems and been sewed a couple amount of times, where as sony have expeirence in gaming as they have been at it at least 10 years now.
and all I can say to microsoft is, step down and let the professionals deal with it.
