Titanfall 2: Respawn On Release Date & Campaign
Respawn has commented on a potential release date for Titanfall 2 and provided some details on what we can expect when it comes to a campaign and the game’s story.
“We’re only a little past a year into it,” said lead writer Jesse Stern, speaking to Forbes. “It takes two years to make these things usually. Sometime late this year or early next seems like the right neighbourhood,” he said, in reference to a possible release date for Titanfall 2.
Stern talked about Titanfall 2 having a dedicated campaign (unlike the first game) that will continue to retell “the story of the American Revolution and the American Civil War in space.
“What inspires us is the junction of technological advancement with the inevitability of conflict and war and what the next war might look like,” Stern continued. “In Titanfall 2 there will be a lot of [scenes] where science meets magic, but keeping it grounded and dirty and human and real.”
The idea that magic is going to be added to the Titanfall universe sets alarm bells ringing for us – it would feel like a really strange addition to the game’s universe, but we’re not going to be playing Titanfall 2 for the story anyway, so it’s not a bit deal.
Stern also reiterated what EA has already indicated: that Titanfall 2 will not be an Xbox One exclusive. The first game was an Xbox exclusive,” said Stern. “This one is going to be widely available, I believe on all platforms.”
