PS4 Update 2.04 Issues: Error Code SU-30709-9 & CE-33950-0

The PS4’s latest firmware update, 2.04, has gone live, but you might want to be wary of downloading it. That’s if you can download it at all.

A number of users on the PS4 have reported receiving the error code SU-30709-9  when trying to download update 2.04 in the PS4 subreddit. If you’ve received error code SU-30709-9 while trying to download update 2.04, a number of users have reported that going to Settings, scrolling down and selecting ‘System Software Update’ and then following the prompts fixes the problem.

However, for some PS4 users this solution doesn’t work and they are receiving other error codes, such as  CE-33950-0. Even those who have managed to download the update are reporting a number of problems, such as being locked out of all their digital content.

PS4 update 2.04 does not add any new features, but is intended to be a stability update. Consequently, we’d suggest that you’re not going to lose anything by waiting a little while for Sony to iron out the issues with PS4 update 2.04, rather than downloading it and risk not being able to play any of your digital games. Hopefully, though, Sony will address these issues quickly.

Well it doesn’t exactly help when you can’t play online unless you do the update. Wouldn’t allow me to sign in to PSN without first doing the update and now I can’t access the store receiving the message on screen “Network unavailable. Please check your network connection.”

So I went on to check now and the store seems to be working again. I could access it now no problem. Perhaps Sony had to do something on their side to sort it out.
