Konami Is Still Scrubbing Kojima’s Name From Its History

It would seem that Konami isn’t just content with removing Hideo Kojima’s name from everything to do with Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain in the wake of news that he looks set to leave Konami.

As spotted by NeoGAF, Konami has now also removed reference to Kojima in connection with Zone of the Enders HD Collection from its website. The site’s entry originally read:”the games feature the engrossing storytelling of Hideo Kojima paired with thrilling robot fights in a futuristic interplanetary setting.” The entry has now been adjusted to remove this text.

While it’s understandable, if a little distasteful, to see Konami removing mention of Kojima from anything MGS 5: The Phantom Pain related, given that the game has not been released yet and Kojima seems to already be half out the door, this is a bit more troubling.

It appears as if Konami is trying to completely erase Kojima from its history. If that is the case, that seems both unnecessary and petty. It will be interesting to see how far Konami goes with this. Will it send someone round your house to cross out Hideo Kojima’s name on your PS One copy of MGS? Perhaps.
