Yakuza 3 non-special-special edition for PAL territories

Sega have announced the release of Yakuza 3 in PAL territories will be a pseudo-special edition, even though it’s just the normal edition. Will this madness never end? First they tell us it’ll never be translated to English, then they say it won’t come to Europe, then they say it will come to Europe, then this.

There will not be a collector’s edition of Yakuza 3 for the Europe and Australasian territories, but the standard edition will come with a few extras to confuse the very notion of what “standard” and “collector’s” mean anyway. Bundled with the game – obviously – will be:

  • A soundtrack CD containing 31 tracks
  • A beginner’s guide to character relationships in the game, which is handy for those who missed the first two games, which is most of you.
  • All four pieces of DLC released in Japan, on the disc.

And that’s your lot. So it isn’t life-changing, nor will it validate your existence in the way so many other special editions do – but it’s a Very Good Thing of Sega to do.

The game releases March 12, and we really liked the Japanese version when it came out. Which means that yes, we are looking forward to the localised release.
