Modern Warfare 2 had Campaign co-op, lost it

Those lamenting the lack of a co-operative campaign mode in Modern Warfare 2 are probably going to a be a bit miffed to learn that the feature was initially set to… feature in the game, but was dropped as it “broke the cinematic experience”.

Speaking to VG247, Rob Bowling of Infinity Ward said:

“We did it early on; that’s what Spec Ops started out as, as co-op through story.

“But it really broke the cinematic experience, took the immersion out of it, out of the story and the pacing and everything we’d spent so long crafting. It just ruined the experience we were aiming for, so we took it out, kept the single-player for that one player intact and polished it.”

This move left us with the Spec Ops mode we have today, so it’s not all bad news. And from the reports we’ve been getting from those in the office lucky enough to have played the game, a blip like this isn’t really going to ruin anything.

      but people wanted a co-op mode,myself included.
the mutterings about activision charging to play online make me wonder if there’s an alteriour motive.

it makes you wonder how out of touch these game developers are, and to drop it because it “broke the cinematic experience” is stupid, you don’t play co-op for a cinematic experience, you play to enjoy the game with your mate.

i’ll most likey not buy this game, due to the fact that i’m picky about the games i do buy but i’ll try it least, and buy Army of Two 40th day instead :)

even if this did have a co op story, i’d play the single player first. still would been nice to play co op after though.
