Media Molecule: We Want To Define ‘Play, Create, Share’ Genre
Media Molecule reveals that whatever it does in the future, it wants to continue defining what Play, Create, Share is all about.
Speaking exclusively to Play, Mark Healey of Media Molecule explained that wherever his studio goes in the future he hopes it will continue to work in the Play, Create, Share field and help to define it. It was LittleBigPlanet that began this new genre of user-created games and with LittleBigPlanet 2 MM is taking it to a whole new level.
Healey hopes that is a trend that will continue. “I definitely feel that as a company what we should do is try and own that [Play, Create, Share] sphere,” he revealed to us. “I’d like to think that stuff that we do going forward is in that realm.”
Healey believes Media Molecule has the people and the fans to take the genre forward, it just needs to keep them energised and interested. “We’ve got some really talented people here so we can do it and LBP has proved that there’s an appetite for it as well,” Healey insisted. “I’m looking forward to other stuff that we’ll be doing in the future. It’s just a case of persuading everyone else to be excited about it as well.”
