BioShock Infinite DLC: “We want to do true fan service”

BioShock Infinite’s second round of Rapture-based DLC is on the way, and Irrational producer Don Roy has told us that while the team wanted to give fans of the underwater original a reason to get excited anew, it wasn’t going to compromise on quality or integrity to do so.

“We want to do true fan service, and not just for the sake of putting things in because fans want to see certain people, but it’s important to us that as a narrative it makes sense,” he said. “The writers have done an amazing job in figuring out how to make these two worlds touch and make sense every time that we introduce everybody.”

The first episode of Burial At Sea was, like Infinite itself, extremely well received late last year, with the upcoming second part offering players a new perspective thanks to a new playable character, Elizabeth.

“I’m so glad that we went there,” Roy told us. “Such a big part of the fan reception to BioShock Infinite was, well, what was it like to be Elizabeth? Being able to take that, which was no easy feat, I think it will be really impressive for fans. We can’t really share any details right now, but what I will say is that players will have a different experience with Elizabeth.”
