Top 5 For 2011 – Jon’s Picks
Dragon Age II – With all the attention rightly focusing on the release of Mass Effect 2 on PS3 and the promise of Mass Effect 3 by the end of 2011, Dragon Age II has had the spotlight moved off it recently. It’s time to move it back. BioWare’s fantasy RPG is building into something very special and deserves your attention.
DmC: Devil May Cry – I’m fed up having to argue in favour of this game against what seems at time like the entire gaming public. This is a series that could do with a kick up the backside and after Enslaved I have the utmost confidence in Ninja Theory. The doubters should should be prepared to swallow their words.
Ni No Kuni – The Studio Ghibli game is a PS3 and DS exclusive, which isn’t a combination you hear very often, but as the most popular handheld and home console in Japan it does kind of make sense. All you should care about is getting to walk around and interact with a living, breathing Japanese animation.
From Dust – The return of the god game? It’s odd to think that it ever disappeared. Eric Chahi is a name that many of you may not be familiar with, but his pedigree is strong as the maker of Another World and his vision for From Dust is something very special. The power of nature at your fingertips. Keep an eye on it.
Alice: Madness Returns – I’ve got high hopes for this game as the original was rather special and American McGee’s take on the Alice tale is never going to be straight forward. Bending and twisting the story we know so well, this return to Wonderland could wind up be the maddest game of 2011.
