I agree with the above comments, especially because money is definitely not my most abundant resource at the moment. However, businesses don't just look at profits. They must also look at customer satisfaction. If every gamer in the world went up in arms over this 'lock out' system, and no-one buys anymore consoles because of it, Sony will have no choice but to change the product.

Sony seem to expect us to pay 69.99 on new games on the store, which should cost between 20-40 depending on how long they've been out for. It wouldn't surprise me if they went ahead with locking-out second hand games. This would make gaming a far more exclusive hobby for those who have money to burn. With 70 Euro titles with day 1 charged dlc they'll be paying hundreds per game if they want the full experience which should just come unlockable by playing the game. Not to mention the impact this would have on game shops who rely on the sale of second hand games to get by.

It would be a real dick move by Sony if they do effectively ban second hand games but you have to remember they're a business. They'll weigh up the pros and cons and go with the ultimately more profitable option.

"Draconian anti-used game measures will be employed

I sincerely hope this one isn’t true, because it would ruin PS4 for me. Just as the always-on rumours of Xbox 720 would ruin that. Ass-backward, unthinking nonsense measures designed as punitive measures against legitimate consumers.

If it sounds like a broken record, that’s because we’ve had to repeat it so many times. It is your right as a consumer to be able to sell and re-sell items you buy, just as it’s your right to buy said items from others. Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, EA, THQ, Ubisoft and the rest of them would surely be happy to bully this right away from us.

If that happens, I’m liable to just give up on gaming. Without second-hand, it’s an unaffordable hobby."

This worries me greatly, because - like with all ne technology- there was a rumour that the PS3 would have a "game lock" system, so you could only play it on the system that "activated it". Thankfully sony didn't go head with it, but i can see it being a problem with the next gen consoles. As much as i love gaming and playstation, as you said, 't’s an unaffordable hobby'. Lets just hope sony and microsoft dont go down this route.
