Venezuela has brought into effect a law that could mean 3-5 years ion prison for anyone who imports or distributes violent videogames. the law was proposed last summer and began this month. This news comes after Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez said in January, "Those games they call 'PlayStation' are poison."
In what we have to take as our first official PlayStation 3 motion control support announcement, EA has revealed that the next Tiger Woods title will include functionality for the wand technology. Due to arrive June 8, Tiger Woods 11 will include options that support Sony's 'Arc' controller, although the unit itself is not expected to launch until at least a couple of months later.
Codemasters have announced a new FPS from the creator of the really-rather-metal Black (you may remember it from the tail-end of the PS2's life), this one entitled Bodycount. There's definitely a lot of imagination with these titles. Still, Black was fantastic, so this news is worth reporting on and has us excited.

VG247 is reporting that a LittleBigPlanet sequel is in the works and will be released this year. This news flies in the face of claims from Media Molecule in the past that it would resist a sequel. Its reasoning was that a LBP 2 would alienate buyers of the first game by voiding their creative efforts. MM seemed to think it could bring all the changes and updates to the game it wanted to through DLC alone.
Valve has formerly announced the already expected, but much-anticipated sequel to 2007's Orange Box title Portal will be coming out around the end of the year, but unfortunately it doesn't look like it will coming to PS3. The official reveal of the game has appeared in US magazineGameInformer, but it only lists PC, Xbox 360 and Mac as formats.
You may know Shaun White better as a snowboarder, but he's also a skateboarder and Ubisoft is taking full advantage of that fact by launching a new game under his name. The game is being scheduled for the end of the year, but currently no gameplay elements have been revealed.
Ubisoft is entering the world of competitive sport with Pure Football, an international five a side football game coming out in time for the World Cup. The game is attempting to harness some of the raw energy of real football, but through a hyper-realistic lense. That means it looks a little like FIFA Street, but will hopefully have some deeper gameplay.
A sequel to 2006's Test Drive Unlimited has been announced for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. It will once again be developed by Lyon based Eden Studios. The game will once again be looking to merge the online and offline space with a perpetual world that continues whether you're playing or not.
American McGee, the maker of Alice and upcoming sequel Return Of Alice is hoping to make a start on a similarly macabre and adult interpretation of Little Red Riding Hood and has posted some art on Flickr in the hopes of getting the project some attention. McGee development team, Spicy Horse is could apparently develop this new game, entitled simply Red, alongside Alice 2, which is being published by EA.

Activision has attempted to stamp things down a little by revealing its plans for the future of the franchise. Those plans include a new developer of Call Of Duty in 2011 and an action adventure game from Sledgehammer Games.
Sony has bought LittleBigPlanet developer Media Molecule in an effort to formalise its relationship with the Guildford based studio. Media Molecule joins a growing list of first party studios built from independent roots that Sony has invested in. Media Molecule is now a part of SCE Worldwide Studios.

Reports globally and from Sony itself that 'Phat' PS3s are once again operational. This comes after a virtual 24 hour blackout of the bigger and older units stopping people from playing some games or getting online. The fault seems to have stemmed from a calendar fault that misinterpreted 2010 as a leap year. Since it is now March 2, the problem can be solved by simply changing the date manually.
The horse may have bolted on this one, but Sony has just released a statement urging 'Phat' PS3 owners not to switch on their PS3s this evening while it continues to find a resolution to issues that have been locking gamers out of their consoles all day. For unknown, but widely speculated reasons a number of PS3 owners (seemingly only those who bought 'phat' PS3s before the launch of the PS3 Slim last year) are experiencing PSN shut out issues that have gone on to lock them out of games offline as well. The fault causing this lockout situation remains unclear, but the Internet is ablaze with speculation that it has something to do with a calendar bug on older PS3 units.
